Analysis: Franklin Fire

Our recent satellite analysis centered on Malibu, CA shows the total area burnt from the Franklin Fire. The fire was ignited in the evening of December 9th 2024.
During the 10th of December – the fire tripled in size, fueled by strong Santa Ana winds with low humidity.
28 structures were damaged, and another 20 structures were destroyed. This includes residential, commercial & other structures according to Cal Fire.
As of 18 December 2024 this fire has been 100% contained, with a total coverage of 4,037 acres. At this point, the cause of the fire is not yet known and is currently under investigation.
